In a courageous move, a group of blind women from Weston-super-Mare have launched the Weston-super-Mare Blind Naked Calendar 2026 to shatter misconceptions and promote awareness about vision loss. Josephine Boulter, who represents Miss August and November in the calendar, was inspired by a condescending comment made to her during a holiday at Butlin's. She recalled the patronizing remark, "Well done you. You enjoy yourself!" after she was seen having fun on her mobility scooter. This experience prompted her to conceptualize the calendar, to answer the perception that blind individuals cannot lead full lives. "I want to raise awareness that people are more than their sight loss, and hopefully raise a bit of money for Deafblind UK too," she expressed. Josephine's mission underscores that independence and joy can coexist with disability.

Rita Coles, who holds the title of Miss April, expressed pride in her contribution to the project, noting that it was "nerve-wracking but good fun."
